Gokyo-Ri

Gokyo Ri, April 2011

This photo was taken at the top of Gokyo-Ri in April of 2011.  It was stitched from several shots taken with my Canon D10 using Hugin to photo stitch.  I had been trekking for about 20 days.  The weather had been overcast for the past 3 or so days since leaving Namche Bazaar, so the previous day arriving in Gokyo, I was not too hopeful that there would be clear weather at the top of Gokyo-Ri the next day.

As you can see the weather was great.  I stayed up at the top for about 2 hours, and didn’t want to come down, but the winds became stronger with each moment as the morning grew late.  It took over 2 hours to ascend, and about an hour to descend.
